GOLD
Nothing is ever truly broken.
A 4K short film running a minute and seven seconds, built on the idea behind kintsugi — that a break can become part of the shape rather than a fault in it. Like AETHYRA it was made entirely digitally, without a camera, and the whole difficulty of this one is in the materials: gold, ceramic and reflection.
How it was made
Meaning before look
We started from what it is about rather than from a nice shot. It says one thing and does not circle it.
The materials are the work
Gold and ceramic need their reflections right to read as real. That is the hardest and the longest part.
A camera that moves slowly
Very quiet movement, so the eye can keep up with the detail instead of passing over it.
Sound finishes it
Light layers of sound with a score that opens up on the final shot.
What it proves
The difficult materials — gold, glass, metal and liquid — can be made convincingly in software. If your product is one of them, it does not need a shoot.
